DSM FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM SEEKS NEXT CLASS OF EMERGING LEADERS

Employer nominations open for 2027-28 professional development program

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Oct. 21, 2026) – Employers across Greater Des Moines (DSM) have an opportunity to invest in their emerging leaders through the 2027-28 DSM Fellowship Program, a 15-month professional development initiative produced by the Greater Des Moines Partnership. Nominations are now open for the program, which helps early-career professionals accelerate their careers, build meaningful relationships and strengthen their connections to the region. Nominations will close Thursday, Dec. 31, 2026.

Through advanced professional development, mentorship, community engagement and networking opportunities, Fellows gain skills and relationships that support their growth as leaders. The 2027-28 cohort will be announced in January, with the program beginning in March 2027 and concluding in June 2028. Tuition includes a customized professional development curriculum, community engagement programming and invitations to Partnership events.

“The next generation of leaders will play an important role in shaping the future of Greater Des Moines,” said Krista Van Hooser-Perin, Director of Workforce at The Partnership. “When employers invest in their emerging talent, they are building stronger teams by developing future leaders and creating connections that help them see a long-term future for themselves in our region.”

The DSM Fellowship Program focuses on four key areas:

  • Career Development: Comprehensive work experience that supports professional growth.
  • Community Engagement: Opportunities to connect with community leaders and become more engaged in Greater Des Moines.
  • Curriculum: Advanced professional development designed to strengthen leadership skills.
  • Social Connections: Shared experiences that foster lasting professional and personal relationships.

Employers may nominate emerging leaders with three-to-seven years of professional experience. Candidates must be nominated by their employer, and applications are reviewed by a selection committee. Fellows are selected based on demonstrated emerging leadership qualities and the goal of bringing together a cohort representing diverse perspectives, industries, professions and communities.

Employers can learn more about the program and submit nominations before Thursday, Dec. 31 at DSMpartnership.com.
